About Leslie

I use a structured, evidence-based approach grounded in the Science of Reading and Orton-Gillingham–aligned strategies. My lessons are explicit, multisensory, and highly interactive. I incorporate phonics, decoding, fluency practice, vocabulary development, and comprehension skills while adapting instruction to each child’s learning needs and pace. I model skills (“I Do”), practice together (“We Do”), and then guide students toward independence (“You Do”) with positive reinforcement and clear corrective feedback. I specialize in working with early readers and students who need extra support, including learners with dyslexia, ADHD, reading delays, and other learning differences. I am patient, encouraging, and skilled at breaking down complex reading skills into manageable steps. My background includes hands-on work in elementary schools, specialized training, and experience tailoring reading instruction to students working below grade level. I believe every child can become a strong reader with the right tools and teaching methods.
