About Nancy

I've been teaching piano privately in Los Angeles since 2010, and before that I spent five summers at Interlochen National Music Camp; one of the most prestigious music programs in the country. That training shaped everything about how I teach.
I hold a lifetime California teaching credential and have worked in school systems as well as one-on-one with students of all ages and backgrounds. Whether you're a child just starting out, an adult who has never touched a piano, or someone returning to an instrument you once loved, I'll build a curriculum around you.

My lessons mix solid fundamentals with music you actually want to play. I believe learning should feel good, so I keep things joyful and low-pressure while still holding students to real progress. I also love playing duets with my students because music is always better shared.

If you've ever thought "I wish I'd learned piano," now is the right time.

My lessons are rooted in classical technique but shaped entirely around you. Whether you're a total beginner or returning to piano after years away, I meet you exactly where you are and build from there.

A typical lesson begins with a short warm-up (scales, arpeggios, or a technical exercise) then moves into repertoire work. We focus on one piece in depth rather than skimming several, developing both accuracy and genuine musicality. Lessons close with ear training or music theory tailored to what you're working on, so everything connects.

What makes my approach different is that I teach music, not just notes. I want students to understand why something is phrased a certain way, not just copy it. That means slower, more intentional progress that actually sticks and students who can eventually learn pieces on their own.

Who this is for: beginners of any age, adult learners picking piano back up, and intermediate students who've plateaued and want to break through. I also work with students preparing for recitals or conservatory auditions. No prior experience required, just genuine curiosity and a willingness to practice.
Lessons run 30, 45, or 60 minutes depending on your level and goals.
