About Johnny

I have 6 years’ and over 1500hrs of tutoring experience. I teach English at all levels:

- for national exams (SATs, GCSE, A-level, degree);

- for entrance exams (11+, independent school entrance, common entrance, verbal and non-verbal reasoning);

- for personal development (eg. for children whose parents feel they are not being properly taught or stimulated in the classroom);

- to improve the quality of schoolwork (eg. developing essay structure, writing and comprehension in humanities subjects);

- reading and writing for adults (eg.for second-language students, job applications, cover letters and personal statements).

I also teach subjects other than English (including Maths, History and Spanish) to a prep-school level.

About the lesson

The purpose of a private tutor is always to address the student’s unique issues and objectives. Therefore, I create tailored materials for every class, as well as making extensive use of a wide range of exam-board certified resources. My approach aims to support a student’s schoolwork by providing a friendly, positive atmosphere and a fresh perspective on learning.

Formerly an experienced child-minder, I believe that many of the skills needed in each field can be employed in both: dependability, positivity and enthusiasm; as well as flexibility, a talent for assessing individual needs, and a natural rapport with children of all ages.

The charges published are for continuous tuition. I am also more than happy to adapt to the needs of pupils who want to observe school or religious holidays, or who only want occasional sessions.
