About Lauren

Having worked my way from a failing state school to study English at Trinity College Cambridge I know what it takes to get the grades. At A-level I received A*s (never achieving below 96/100), while for my undergraduate degree I achieved firsts in several modules, from my final year dissertation to exams in practical criticism. During my time at the university I also chaired the college's literary society, edited its magazine and was published in the Trinity Poets anthology for researching and writing tens of biographical headnotes alongside esteemed Cambridge professors and poets. I then went on to get a Master's in journalism thanks to the Sue Lloyd-Roberts, Master's Excellence and Varsity scholarships. I'm now a full-time journalist, writer and podcast host based in London.

About the lesson

I offer personalised lessons to anyone looking to boost their English, or humanities / essay-based subject grades. Firstly I want to know about you: what are your passions, strengths, weaknesses? What are you struggling with? From there, I'll adopt a Cambridge supervision structure: we will read and analyse passages together, alongside the marking criteria of your institution's exam board. I'll mark your work, explaining with you what we could have done more of and how.
