About Ben
I’m a Cambridge-educated tutor with a degree in Education and History from the University of Cambridge, and classroom experience teaching English through the Teach First.
I tutor History and English from GCSE to undergraduate level, with particular strengths in poetry, literature analysis, and academic writing. I combine strong subject knowledge with an understanding of how students learn, helping them move from uncertainty to confidence in their work.

My lessons are structured, supportive, and tailored to each student’s needs and goals. I focus on giving students practical tools they can apply independently, particularly in essay writing, text analysis, and exam responses.
In English, this means learning how to analyse poetry and literature with confidence, develop personal interpretations, and express ideas clearly and convincingly. In History, students learn how to build strong arguments, handle sources effectively, and write essays that are both analytical and well-structured.
Lessons are adapted to the student’s exam board, level, and learning style. I use clear explanations, guided practice, and targeted feedback so students understand not just what to write, but why it works. The aim is steady progress, growing confidence, and writing that reflects the student’s own thinking.
