About Catrin

I'm a teacher, writer, and illustrator based in Cambridge. I'm from a rural area in the West Midlands and particularly love the American Beat Generation writers, and my favourite book is Just Kids by Patti Smith.

I'm very excited to get to know you and help you develop the skills you need, in a low-pressure and non-judgemental environment. We can utilise your personal interests in creative and academic writing practice! For example, a student of mine had fallen out of love with essay writing and analysing texts at school; we used her favourite horror books to work on the analytical skills that we later applied to the exam texts for her GCSE mocks.

I also offer history, fine art, art history, and RE lessons from KS1 until A-level, with degree-level BA tutoring available for some of these subjects too. I can assist with dissertation writing skills, and research-skills, especially within the Arts.

Having completed my teacher training through the University of Cambridge, I am qualified to teach across the curriculum and am somebody who approaches each session with professionalism. I am friendly, and fully safeguarding trained, and am a naturally bubbly person.

About the lesson

I'm a friendly teacher with a particular love for poetry, classic literature, and creative/essay writing. My approach is student-led; meaning, I will prioritise any areas of English you are nervous about, and lean into the areas that excite you most.

I am a graduate of the University of Cambridge PGCE General Primary via the Faculty of Education. My background is in the arts, with English literature and history at the core of my expertise, and a BA(Hons) in Illustration from the University of the Arts London.

My lessons are typically an hour, but I offer 30 minute sessions too.

I have extensive experience with KS1 and KS2 teaching, but also tutor GCSE English through to the end of A-Levels.
