About Sarah

I became interested in teaching because I learned French as a young adult. At the age of 18, I went to France and immersed myself in a different language and culture. I have first-hand experience of both learning a new language and the challenges that come with it, which is why I enjoy helping others gain confidence and overcome seemingly difficult hurdles.

I went on to complete a Master’s degree in Business and Languages at a French university, something that felt almost impossible at the time. It was a demanding experience that required persistence and adaptation, but it ultimately strengthened my language abilities and gave me the confidence to navigate complex academic and cultural environments.

Over time, I’ve seen how learning a language can open doors, not just professionally but personally, and that continues to be what motivates me in my work.

I have a young son who is now eight years old and attends the French school in Cape Town. Seeing him grow up in a bilingual environment keeps me closely connected to everyday language learning and development in a real-world context.

Outside of teaching, I have an active lifestyle that includes kitesurfing, hiking, traveling, and exploring culinary experiences!

About the lesson

I am a CELTA-certified teacher with over 10 years of experience teaching English and French to children, students, and adults of all levels. My lessons are tailored to each learner's goals, whether they want to improve conversation skills, prepare for exams, build confidence, strengthen grammar, or use the language for work, travel, or everyday life.

I believe language learning should be practical, engaging, and relevant. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, I adapt my methodology to suit different learning styles, personalities, and objectives, with a strong focus on real-world communication and building confidence.

I teach both English and French and support learners from beginner to advanced levels. Students can expect interactive lessons that combine conversation, vocabulary development, grammar, and practical language use. My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging environment where learners can progress at their own pace and achieve their objectives.
