About Me

I believe that every student is capable of succeeding with the right support, encouragement, and guidance. As a certified teacher with a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia, I have spent more than 15 years helping students develop the skills and confidence they need to achieve their goals.

I strive to create a positive, welcoming learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating their progress. I am patient, approachable, and genuinely enjoy helping others discover that English can be engaging, rewarding, and even fun.

When I'm not teaching, you'll usually find me with a good book or working on one of my own writing projects. My passion for literature and storytelling extends beyond the classroom, allowing me to bring enthusiasm and authentic real-world experience to every lesson. Whether your goal is to improve grades, prepare for an assessment, or simply become a more confident reader and writer, I'm committed to helping you succeed every step of the way.

About the lesson

My Approach to Tutoring

Every student learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to suit each individual's strengths, goals, and learning style. Whether a student needs help understanding a novel, improving essay writing, strengthening grammar, preparing for an exam, or simply building confidence in English, I adapt my teaching to meet them where they are.

A typical lesson begins with a quick review of previous learning, followed by focused instruction on the day's topic. We then work through guided examples together before moving into independent practice, where I provide feedback and strategies for improvement. I believe students learn best when they understand why something works, rather than simply memorizing answers.

As a certified teacher with over 15 years of classroom experience, I understand the curriculum and the challenges students face in middle and high school English. I have worked with learners of many different abilities and know how to explain complex ideas in clear, approachable ways. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to build their confidence as readers, writers, and critical thinkers.

My lessons are ideal for middle and secondary school students who are looking for support with reading comprehension, literary analysis, essay writing, creative writing, grammar, vocabulary, or exam preparation. Whether a student is struggling, aiming for top marks, or simply wants to become a stronger communicator, I provide patient, encouraging, and personalized instruction to help them succeed.
