Hello, I'm Austin! I am a high school English teacher. I am also the English department lead at my school. I live in Minnesota, just outside of the Twin Cities. I have a Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing with a minor in Gender & Women's Studies from Knox College and a Master's degree in Education from The College of St. Scholastica.
I have tutored students one-on-one for one year but I have been a classroom teacher for six years. I teach mostly ninth and tenth graders. For all of my career I have worked with English language learners from a wide variety of countries including Liberia, Somalia, Ethiopia, Mexico, Ukraine, Russia, and more. I have experience creating curriculum that aligns with state standards, planning engaging lessons for a diverse population of students, and building relationships with students based on trust and mutual respect. I love meeting learners where they are at and helping to make their experience with reading and writing a positive one.
