About Kiyoshi

Hello! My name is Kiyoshi, and I am a native Japanese speaker living in Nara, Japan. I am a certified Japanese teacher and have completed a 420-hour Japanese language teacher training course. I also passed the Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test and the examination for registered Japanese language teachers. I have more than three years of experience teaching Japanese as a volunteer, as well as experience providing private online lessons. Before becoming a Japanese teacher, I worked for a Japanese company for more than 30 years, including 18 years as an executive. Therefore, I can teach not only everyday Japanese but also practical business communication, including meetings, presentations, emails, interviews, and honorific language. I am patient, friendly, and interested in meeting people from different countries. I enjoy traveling, running, watching television dramas, and learning English. As a language learner myself, I understand how difficult it can be to speak confidently. I will support you patiently and help you enjoy learning Japanese.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed for adult learners, from complete beginners to intermediate students. I can help you study basic Japanese, everyday conversation, pronunciation, listening, JLPT preparation, travel Japanese, and practical business Japanese. At the beginning of the first lesson, I will ask about your current level, learning goals, interests, and preferred learning style. I will then create a lesson plan that matches your needs and pace. For beginner lessons, I use clear explanations, visual materials, illustrations, and practical conversation exercises. We will study grammar and vocabulary and then use them in real conversations. For JLPT lessons, we can practice grammar, vocabulary, kanji, reading, and listening. Homework is also available if you would like additional practice. I mainly conduct my lessons in Japanese, but I can provide English support when necessary. I am patient and understand that making mistakes is an important part of learning a language. My goal is to create a relaxed environment where you can speak confidently and enjoy improving your Japanese step by step.
