About Lisa
I am a certified K-12 special education, language arts, and social studies teacher. I have been in K-12 education for 17 years. I have worked with special students, English learning students, dyslexia students, and those just wanting to catch up or stay afloat. I live near Austin, Texas. In my free time I like to play with my cats, go to the pool down my street, or sing.

I like to establish rapport, and have fun with my students, first and foremost. If they're having fun, they don't realize they're learning! I like to find out where my students' present levels are so I can determine how to help them. In the beginning, I give assessments to find out where the child's reading and/or writing skills are with a grade level equivalence. I then formulate a plan, and talk to the parents about it. I have regular routines, and expectations for my students and go over them often with the students, and I share progress with the parents. Plans can always be adjusted and changed based on the child's needs.
