About Wanika
In 2021 I completed a TEFL course through a company called i-to-i. This course taught me how to teach English as a foreign language. It also improved my knowledge on teaching English online and included material on how to improve business English of non-native speakers. I have been teaching English online on a daily basis since receiving my certification and I love the online classroom. Teaching English is not my only passion. I am currently completing my degree in Marketing Management through the University of South Africa. I am happiest when I get to participate in conversations with people from different cultures and nationalities. I trust that through being your online English teacher, I will learn just as much from you as you would from me. I cannot wait to be part of your English language learning journey.

Hello there, My name is Wanika Barkhuizen and I believe that my teaching philosophy is a self-reflective statement of my beliefs about teaching and learning. I believe that all learners are unique and it is my desire to create a stimulating educational environment where students can express themselves while simultaneously developing their own potential. I believe in a task-based, contextual learning methodology because personally, I believe that authentic language can only be taught by completing a set of meaningful tasks in the target language. This is the teaching style that I use within my online classroom daily.
