About Shaun

I am a current chemistry teacher, but beyond that, I spent 4 years of college tutoring my peers in biology, physics, and chemistry.

I have taken general chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry classes in my life, and excelled in each.

I am extremely dedicated to and passionate about education. My philosophy is that every student can learn the material as long as it is presented in a way that is meaningful to them. Everyone learns differently, and I am highly motivated to bring chemistry knowledge to anyone who is seeking it

Chemistry is all about understanding, and then applying concepts. I usually like to stick to one concept per session, and then practice with it to build understanding.

I often use analogies that are more relatable to the student than chemistry is, which I find helps out a lot.

What sets me apart from most tutors is, in my opinion, 2 things: 1st, I was once a struggling high school chemistry student. I have been on both sides of the academic coin - the struggling student, and the successful student. I understand what needs to be done to get from point A to point B. 2nd, I am experienced, but also am very good at explaining the concepts. Some teachers simply talk at their students, but me, I am good at taking cues to signal whether understanding has been achieved. I am good at communicating this complex information to varying types of learners.

My lessons are appropriate for any struggling chemistry student! Whether high school honor, AP, or college-level chemistry, I am confident that I can help you get where you want to go!
