About Maya

My Teaching Method and Techniques

My approach to tutoring focuses on patience, individualized instruction, and helping students understand concepts one step at a time. I am currently studying Early Childhood Education and Special Education PK–12. Through my coursework and classroom experiences, I have developed an understanding of how to adapt instruction to meet different learning needs. I use clear explanations, practical examples, guided practice, and step-by-step instruction to help students strengthen their understanding and become more independent learners.

A Typical Lesson

Each lesson begins with identifying the student's goals and reviewing the assignments or concepts they find challenging. I break the material into manageable steps, explain key concepts, provide examples, and guide the student through practice activities. Throughout the session, I encourage questions and check for understanding. At the end, we review the material covered and identify areas that may need additional practice.

What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor

I bring a patient, supportive, and organized approach to tutoring. My background in early childhood education and special education has helped me understand the importance of differentiated instruction and meeting students at their current academic levels. I strive to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, learning from mistakes, and working toward their goals. I emphasize clear communication, practical examples, and individualized strategies to make challenging material easier to understand.

Who My Lessons Are For

I welcome opportunities to support elementary, middle, and high school students with academic skills, as well as college students seeking help with education-related coursework. I can assist with reviewing concepts, understanding assignment directions, organizing coursework, developing study strategies, and breaking down challenging material into manageable steps. I am particularly interested in early childhood education and special education topics. I tailor my approach to each student's academic level, learning needs, and goals.

What a Typical Lesson Looks Like

Each lesson begins by identifying the student's goals, reviewing the assignment or concepts they find challenging, and determining which areas need the most support. I then break the material into manageable steps, explain important concepts, provide examples, and work through practice activities with the student. Throughout the session, I encourage questions and check for understanding. At the end, we review what we covered and identify any areas that may need additional practice.
