About Steve
I am fortunate to be able to reflect on a career that has taken me to the highest level of theatre production but I attribute much of this success to the rigorous craft training I received.
As a passionate and lifelong teacher (also of other areas of performance), it is of huge importance to me not to take what I know to my grave but to share it with the next generation.
Acting is first and foremost a handed-down craft.

For your classical monologue, you will learn...
- how to identify, respect and come directly from the writer's intention
- how to develop a clear understanding of structure
- how to break down a text, recognising the placement and purpose of each word so that nothing is left to chance
- how to identify changes of thought and, as a result, weight the text with truth
In addition - for the modern monologue - an understanding of sub-text (i.e. what is not expressed in words) becomes important.
Lessons are typically one hour in duration. To achieve the best results, I recommend a run of around six weekly sessions for those without any formal training. It should be understood that regular and rigorous practice between classes is absolutely vital to achieve full potential.
I have helped many aspiring young actors to gain drama school places but one-off sessions can be of great use for trained professionals who would like to brush up their craft or who have audition material to prepare.
