About Zara
I’m an 18 year old student who completed my GCSEs 2 years ago. During my time at high school I was never given the individual support that I needed and found myself feeling ‘unready’ and unprepared for my GCSEs. I spent what felt like ‘no time left’ studying exam boards, literature, past paper specific questions and learnt what examiners are truly looking for, what areas can be improved based on their requirements and how I can use my own individuality to achieve higher grades. By doing this I achieved excellent grades throughout all my GCSEs, including a 9 in English. I want to become a tutor to pass on my knowledge to other students out there who may feel ‘unprepared’ or just need that extra individual support that younger me did. I want to prove that English is not a talent you’re born with; “you either get it or you don’t”, but an expressive subject that allows any person to succeed in. After all, there is no ‘right or wrong’ in English, only creativity and perspective.

My lessons will be tailored around the pupil’s individual needs. Depending on their year group I can help them prepare successfully for their English GCSEs. I understand everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses when it comes to English, not every pupil is the same, so I will get to know where the pupil feels comfortable and where they may need a little help. I offer help in them understanding their exam board specific criteria; including past paper questions we can go over at their own pace, analysing and evaluating different passages to help them spot specific literature exam boards have included, as well as teaching them on how to successfully structure an essay and exam questions. I can adapt my lessons to be more faster paced, or slower depending on the student’s preference and can use my past experience to help them feel mentally/emotionally prepared for exams as well.
