About Christina

I’m Dr Christina Clover — an award-winning author, editor, and tutor with a PhD in Creative Writing. I’ve published six books for children and young people, including The Loop, which won international recognition, voted by children across the world. I also write short stories and will soon be releasing my debut novel for adults, The Animals. I regularly teach Creative Writing up to MA level, both in universities and community settings. I completed my BA and MA at Bath Spa University, and earned my PhD from the University of Kent. As a tutor, I’m constructive, thorough, and encouraging. Whether you’re just starting out, polishing a manuscript, or working towards exam success, I’m here to help. I work with students of all ages and backgrounds — from GCSE learners to adults developing their craft — and I love helping people grow in confidence and creativity. I also co-direct Alight Productions, a creative education company that helps young people explore storytelling in fresh and imaginative ways.

About the lesson

I offer flexible and supportive creative writing lessons tailored to each student’s goals. You can choose between a full one-hour lesson where we work on writing techniques and ideas together, or a split-format session: 30 minutes live teaching, plus detailed written feedback and critique on your own writing in between. That option takes 1.5 hours of my time but only 30 minutes of yours face-to-face. If you're a student preparing for exams (such as GCSE or A Level), I’ll work closely with your curriculum to help you build confidence in the creative writing elements of English. If you’re writing for your own enjoyment or development, we’ll tailor everything to your writing interests, style, and goals—whether you're working on short stories, novels, or just want to get started. I hold a PhD in Creative Writing and have experience teaching at MA level in universities, as well as running workshops for adults, community writing groups, and young people. My lessons are for anyone—from students who want to improve their grades to adults who simply love storytelling and want to develop their skills. Whether you're just starting out or already deep into a writing project, I'm here to help.
