About Elizabeth
Hi, I’m Elizabeth — a credentialed elementary teacher specializing in early literacy and K–3 reading support. I’m passionate about helping young learners build strong foundational skills, confidence, and a positive relationship with learning. With my background in elementary education, I focus on phonics-based instruction, decoding, fluency, and comprehension using research-backed strategies tailored to each child’s unique needs. I believe early reading skills are critical, and with the right support, every child can grow into a confident reader. My tutoring sessions are preferably short (30-45 minutes), engaging, and developmentally appropriate for young learners. I create a calm, encouraging environment where children feel supported, successful, and motivated. Whether a student is struggling, needs extra practice, or would benefit from enrichment, I meet them where they are and help them move forward with confidence. As a parent myself, I understand how busy family life can be. I aim to make tutoring effective, flexible, and easy to fit into your schedule, while keeping parents informed and involved in their child’s progress. I love partnering with families to support children during these important early years and celebrating each step of growth along the way.

I have taught in a California public elementary school for 6 years. In that time I have used many curriculums for reading (ex. SIPPS and Benchmark Advance). As well as completed many trainings in reading supports and interventions. I understand learning to read at its core. I can meet your child where they’re at and adapt to work with any program or curriculum your child is currently learning at school. I am very comfortable working with young children and keep lessons focused and fun. I prefer in person learning, however, I taught 1st grade online during Covid, so am well rehearsed in online teaching if that’s what works for your family!

I am flexible with rates depending on travel, length of lesson, number of lessons per week. I realize my rates are higher than an average tutor. However, with my background, education, and experience, I feel confident that I can get your child reading on grade level.
