I frame all of my instruction with something I call "the pedagogical triangle." As a classroom teacher, university educator, online course facilitator, mentor, tutor, or coach I believe that all learning should include a balance of Intelectual Rigor, Emotional Engagement, and Ethical Reflection. In reading and writing, empathy is the highest level of critical thinking.
For struggling writers, I can promise dedicated instruction and coaching that will lead to swift, steady, and lasting improvement -- or I will return your fees.
I graduated with a B.A. from Santa Clara University and earned my M.A. and English Single-Subject Credential from Stanford Teacher Education Program.
I am a Museum Teachers Fellow at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, a Tauber Holocaust Education Fellow in San Francisco, and a graduate of the Yad Vashem International Educators Program in Israel.
Moreover, I am a certified differentiated instruction and metacognitive specialist. I have studied as a post-graduate at Columbia University's Teachers College and the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York City.
Two of my former principals can attest to my qualifications as a writing, reading, and research educator. I teach with passion, and I manage with compassion. I have worked for 20 years at a top college preparatory middle school and high school, and I have taught and coached students with special learning needs and goals since 2014. Known as "the autism whisperer," I have patience, knowledge, and skill to help students at every level and in almost all educational arenas. I am also a teacher trainer and mentor.

Mark got me to do the reading for English class in 10th grade even when I disliked the required literature. He really cares about students as people, made it safe to tell our truth in class. And he taught us how to think critically and connect ideas together. He even made life seem ok for those of us with protective parents who wouldn’t let us do what other teenagers did. Trust Mark Davis, I do.
