About Nichole

My name is Nichole, I’m a 21-year-old Ghanaian and the eldest of four siblings. I am currently completing my Bachelor of Global Studies and Law, where I have developed strong skills in reading, writing, research, communication, and critical thinking.

I have always had a passion for English and creative writing. I have won writing competitions during primary school and have received praise from teachers for my poetry and prose-style writing. Outside of academics, I enjoy reading, crocheting, and athletics.

I also have experience working with children through Children’s Bible School and Children’s Sunday School, as well as helping my younger siblings. These experiences have taught me to be patient, encouraging, and understanding when working with children.

As a tutor, my goal is to create a comfortable and positive learning environment where students feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and developing their English skills. I want every student to leave my lessons feeling that English is something they can succeed in.

I use a "step-by-step, interactive approach" designed to make English easy to understand and enjoyable for children aged 6–12 in 30 minute sessions.

I am currently studying a Bachelor of Global Studies and Law, which involves extensive academic reading, research, essay writing, communication, and critical thinking. As the eldest of four siblings, I have experience helping and supporting younger children. I have also assisted with Children’s Bible School and Children’s Sunday School services, where I have helped engage and guide children in a positive and supportive environment. These experiences have helped me develop patience, communication, responsibility, and the ability to explain things in a way that is easy for children to understand.

1. Start with a quick review – I begin by reviewing what the student already knows and asking a few simple questions to identify what they need help with.

2. Introduce one new concept – I explain the topic in a simple, age-appropriate way, using examples that relate to things children are familiar with.

3. Learn through activities – Rather than relying only on worksheets, I use reading exercises, word games, spelling activities, storytelling, and short writing tasks to keep lessons engaging.

4. Practice together – We work through examples together, with me providing guidance and encouragement. I gradually reduce my help as the student becomes more confident.

5. Independent practice – The student then completes a few activities independently so I can see what they have understood and where they may need additional support.

6. Correct and explain mistakes – I treat mistakes as part of learning. Instead of simply giving the correct answer, I explain why an answer is incorrect and help the student work out the solution themselves.

7. Finish with a recap – At the end of each lesson, we review what was learned and identify one or two things for the student to practice before the next session.

My overall goal is to create a patient and encouraging environment where children feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and gradually developing their reading, writing, spelling, grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.
