About Emily
I graduated with an ATAR of 94.6 and currently hold first class honours in my Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Melbourne. I am a politics and criminology major, with a passion for English and teaching, and I hope to share that with you so that you can feel confident in your writing.
I have experience working for Point Cook Tutoring company, and I specialise in high school preparation, text response essays, analytical and comparative essays, and creative writing.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what a lesson with me typically looks like;
Teaching portion: I will spend a bit of time making sure you are familiar with all the content/theory/notes/concepts that you will need for the lesson
- For older students this could look like: mind maps, PowerPoint/lecture slides, and detailed note taking
- For younger students: simplified, and visual content, and some basic note taking practise alongside me
Discussion Section: We will talk about the ideas and material so that you have a chance to become confident in what you are writing.
- Usually looks like a face to face discussion, sometimes with the aid of a brainstorm for ideas
- For group sessions it can involve debate style discussions, allocations of character/theme analyses to different students, and group tasks.
Activity Section: You will be able to practise applying the content in a short task or writing assignment.
- For older students this could look like: character or thematic analysis tables, paragraph practise, chapter annotation, essay outlines, and stream of consciousness paragraphs
For younger students: short guided writing tasks, filling in a planning templates, and question and answer style worksheets
I will easily adapt to your goals and level— whether you are just starting with the basics of primary level writing, or are about to begin high school and want an introduction into formal essay writing, or are a little further along, but struggling with structure, cohesiveness, and knowing the important things to include.
