About Julia
As a current UCSC psychology student with experience tutoring in both academic and personal settings, I’m confident in my ability to support students in a way that’s clear, patient, and encouraging. I’ve worked as an English tutor through the Link Crew Program in high school, and I also currently tutor my younger brother using creative and personalized lessons that match his interests. I’ve held leadership roles in clubs like AMSA and WSS, where I’ve planned events, created educational content, and supported my peers. I take pride in being responsible, flexible, and always showing up with care and dedication. Whether you’re looking to improve your writing, build confidence, or just need someone who will meet you where you're at, I’m here to help! >O

My Tutoring Style - I like to meet students where they’re at. Whether they’re struggling with spelling, sentence structure, or essay writing, I aim to break things down in a way that makes sense to them to the best of my ability and knowledge. I use articles and topics that the student is actually interested in, because I know from experience that it helps them stay motivated and enjoy learning more. I also like to go at a pace that feels comfortable and build their confidence along the way Lesson Plan - Quick warm-up (vocab, spelling, or a short review) - Reading practice using an article or story based on the student’s interest - Writing exercise (building sentences, grammar, short paragraph, or essay help) - Mini-lesson on a topic they need help with (like transitions, punctuation, etc.) - Wrap-up with questions and a small practice task for next time Tutor Standout - I’ve had real experience tutoring through school and home - I’m super patient, friendly, and flexible; no pressure or judgment >O< - I make lessons creative and tailored to what the student enjoys - I’ve led and supported others through roles in WSS, AMSA, and Bayanihan organizations at UCSC, which helped me learn how to connect, plan, and communicate effectively Working With.... - Elementary, middle school, high school, and college students who need support in English writing, reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, and building academic confidence!
