About Zoë
I'm a current undergraduate at the University of Oxford in English Language and Literature, and also the biggest bookworm ever! You can generally find me with my cat tucked into the cosiest reading nook I can find and drinking lots and lots of coffee. I have been the person with not a clue what's going on in many of my classes at times, and at others at the top of my class but not quite able to break into the top grades. Overcoming both situations has taught me to be very sensitive to what works and what doesn't, and I've long been helping my peers achieve the same "eureka" moment. I began tutoring professionally 3 years ago, and pride myself on my classes being a judgement-free space where we can have fun and learn to love English, and not just get the best possible grades but really push yourself intellectually.

English as a subject can seem impossible to approach for some, and impossible to perfect for others. Having worked with many students of a variety of ages, I know that it often can feel like there's just a missing ingredient that you need to succeed, but no one ever clearly explains what it is. A massive part of this issue is the usual "one size fits all" approach taken in schools, which tends to make even the most potentially talented students feel unable to grasp it. That's why I want to help you make English work for you! We can work together to find your essay and creative writing style, and use your own interests and reading style to help literature become a passion and not a chore. We'll work together in hour long sessions, beginning by reviewing your previous work to identify areas that we may need to work on, as well making the most of what you're getting right! After that I can either help you master your current schoolwork or provide materials for revision for any level of exams. I don't want to be your crutch - you can achieve so much better than that! The key to my method is to help you see the subject in a brand new way, and by building the skills you need to respond to new challenges independently and confidently going forwards.
