About Amali

Hello! I'm Amali Phillips, a freshman Environmental Studies major at Spelman College in GA. I tutor elementary, middle and high school students in Math and English. I specifically love algebra and creative writing. I can't wait to work with you!

About the lesson

I am a very particular learner, and I want to help my clients discover their learning styles to create learning strategies and learn to advocate for what they need in class. Growing up, I was separated from my peers because I have a learning disability. This experience taught me that even if you don't understand something one way, try another because we all learn differently. I graduated with a 3.68 as the National Honors Society President. Now I attend the top HBCU, Spelman College. I tutor elementary and middle school math and elementary, middle school, and high school English.

I’ve known Amali for 5 years. She is smart, thoughtful, patient and supportive and, for these reasons, would be an excellent creative writing teacher. Her own written work is brave and has a lot of heart, and she easily connects with her readers. I highly recommend her!

Amali was one of my high school students. At our school, she often tutored younger students and her peers in the same classes as her who were struggling with the material. She is patient and will take her time to find different ways to explain something. She has strong time management skills and can help make plans for catching up on work. Amali is professional, but likes to keep it light and fun, especially if the material is really hard.
