About Lucy

My name is Lucy. I have been living in NZ for eight years.

I completed the Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics in 2022 and am studying Psychology and Physiology major at the University of Auckland. I also volunteer at Aorere College as a reading mentor every Wednesday.

I began my first language project at 15 years old, exploring how English influenced the development of the Shanghainese dialect. I also earned a bilingual International Baccalaureate diploma in 2017 in Shanghai.

I LOVE sociolinguistics and syntax!!! I am learning Te Reo and French right now.

If you enjoy reading, language or thoughtful discussion, feel free to reach out! Thank you!

About the lesson

I am not a professional teacher; however, I am here to support you. If you would like to read something (such as a novel and news article), I would be happy to read with you. If you are unsure how to express your thoughts and ideas, we can work together to put them into words. I would also be very glad to have a sincere and thoughtful discussion with you if you are interested in Linguistics and/or language phenomena.
