Every great teacher simply wants to help others. A great teacher acknowledges that children are our future and in order to make the world a better place we must all ban together to help nurture and support the young minds of the world. A great teacher is passionate and committed to motivating and educating all students to their highest potential. I want to be a great teacher. Some of my earliest memories are of me and my sister playing in the basement with the big chalkboard my mother had bought us. I loved to come home from school and teach my sister everything that I had learned that day. I found joy in learning at a young age and I wanted to share that joy with my sister. I remember teaching her how to read and seeing her brown eyes sparkle as we both cheered with joy when she would learn a new word. I remember the feeling of transferring my interest and joy in a subject to someone else and knowing that that was what I wanted to do with my life. When I grew older I found myself tutoring the children I babysat and then later tutoring my classmates in high school. I found myself working with children as a member of Key Club and camps throughout the summers. I became the third generation of Dublin Teachers Academy where I was able to learn teaching strategies in a classroom setting and later apply new skills as a student teacher. Not only was I able to further confirm my passion for teaching, but I was also able to teach every grade level in various subjects to define my desired grade level and disciplines. After high school I found myself working with young adults at a rescue horse shelter called Equine Partners Unlimited. I loved helping others gain confidence with the horses and develop a sense of pride and purpose. Even as a Supervisor at Starbucks I found myself training others and being sent to different stores to train because of my success and joy in educating. Throughout my entire life I have been drawn to environments where I can transfer my interest and joy in a subject to someone else and empower them. If granted admittance to The Ohio State University Middle Childhood Education program, I hope to continue my passion for empowering others and further develop the ability to motivate and educate all students to their highest potential.
I am currently a full time student at the Ohio State University. I am pursuing my Bachelor’s in Education with a subject focus of Social Studies and Language Arts. I maintain flexible hours except for Monday and Tuesday mornings when I attend class.
