About Sofiya

I'm an avid lover of the English subject, and I believe it is my passion that enabled me to excel. I achieved double 9s in my GCSE English papers and now working at a consistent A* at A-level. I aim to share my enthusiasm for English with others, in hopes of inspiring the next generation of passionate, eloquent high achievers who can utilise their talents to further their ambitions. I firmly think English is for everyone. It is a subject that requires you to channel your personality and natural curiosity, and reflect it within your work. I enjoy essay writing and literary analysis which is why I am currently studying both English and History at A-level. Overall I have faith in all students, everyone is able to excel, for me, it's about helping you find a teaching approach that is tailored and personal to you. I'm all for rapid progress, I like seeing results and consistency, which is exactly what I can ensure you get from your sessions with me!

About the lesson

Being a student myself, I believe in a hands on, stimulating approach - however I know that all students have personal preference which is why I am flexible in my methods. Currently tutoring the younger years within my Academy, I assist GCSE level students with skills required to be working at a grade 7 and above. My experience stretches below GCSE level, as well as above into A-level content. I have worked with students ranging in age from 11-17 hence I would be more than happy to tutor within this age range. A typical lesson with me would last between 1-3 hours, something that can be discussed depending on how much help the student requires. When typically working with a GCSE student, I prefer to focus on one aspect of the course per lesson. For example, I dedicate a lot of time to perfecting essay structure skills with an analytical approach, however when teaching creative writing, I prefer more engaging and unique methods to inspire the students innate creative abilities. My specialty lies in Poetry and Shakespeare, as well as literary context (in terms of politics and the history of said literature) as well as Dystopian and Classic works.

Sofiya is a very friendly and kind person, she is a prominent egalitarian and she helped with throughly with tutoring in ways others could not, she was patient and understanding when I wasn’t up to basics with my subjects she tutored, she took her time and it paid off! I went up a whole 2 grades which was a great shock for me as I didn’t expect to go up by even 1. I thought I would share my experience with her so everyone can take advantage of her faultless tutoring!
