About Roger
12 years experience as a journalist before my MA and PhD. I have been a course leader and senior lecturer with experience of course and module design and University level teaching over 8 years. I have taught formal lectures to over 200 students but also in a seminar, workshop and one to one setting where I find it easiest to adapt to student needs and develop teaching strategies and materials accordingly. Indeed, I have been recently commended for this work and was once nominated as lecturer of the year. I have a student centred approach to facilitated self learning and am totally committed to the development of students own potential as autonomous and critical learners, as well as life long learners. I use a wide range of teaching materials and materials including power point and you tube.

My teaching methods are framed by my (part completed) Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Learning and my practical experience of teaching in FE Colleges and the University sector particularly since 2008 when I graduated my PhD (in English Literature. I am totally committed to student centred teaching and to the development of students full potential as autonomous learners and also as life long learners. Ergo, within the parameters of a given module's learning outcomes I will adapt my teaching strategy in accordance with student feedback and needs. I have taught across the whole spectrum of platforms from formal lecturers to seminars, workshops, dissertation and project supervision (for which I have been particularly commended) and was once nominated as lecturer of the year. I have also developed on line content.
