About Matteo
I’m a historian, language specialist, and Dante enthusiast with over 20 years of experience teaching Medieval Italian cultural history in North America. I speak English, Italian, French, and Latin, and I love working with ancient manuscripts, inscriptions, and medieval handwriting. If you’re curious about Italy’s literary past, I’d love to help you explore it in its original form.

Have you ever wanted to read Dante's Divine Comedy but felt held back because you don’t speak modern Italian? I can help with that! My lessons combine live sessions with optional activities between meetings — including vocabulary drills, reading practice, and textual analysis. We’ll also explore how rhythm and sound work in medieval poetry. My goal is to help you feel at ease with the language and confident as you work through classical Italian texts at your own pace.
