About Ellen

Hello! I'm Ellen, a writer, editor and legal professional who loves to make learning fun! I want to help you not only get the best results in your subjects but also inspire you to love writing, reading and learning for the rest of your life. I graduated high school with a 99.1 ATAR, achieving 7 band 6/E4 results and placing second in NSW in Indonesian Continuers. I went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws at the University of Sydney and worked as a legal professional and researcher for seven years. I am now an IPEd-accredited editor, having edited novels and non-fiction books for top Australian publishing houses, and I also have a creative writing practice of my own. I have recently received a grant from Creative Australia to pursue the completion of my first novel. Safe to say, I know what it takes to not only learn how to write but also to pursue a goal to its end! I have experience running group and one-on-one creative writing and editing workshops with adults of all ages, but particularly young adults aged 18-30, as well as facilitating creative process spaces with high-school children and adults. These workshops were conducted while I worked at the Writing & Society Research Centre at Western Sydney University, and at the Faber Writing Academy at Allen & Unwin. I also have experience tutoring primary and high-school aged children in English and Mathematics.

About the lesson

Are you looking to improve your legal research skills? Do you need assistance with editing or grammar? Do you want to tap into your creative process and enhance your writing, regardless of what you are studying?

I offer one-on-one personalised tutoring in:
- Essay writing (all levels)
- Creative writing (including self-editing techniques) (all levels)
- Year 3 - 10 English
- HSC English
- HSC English Extension 1
- HSC English Extension 2
- HSC Legal Studies
- HSC Indonesian Beginners
- University-level English
- University-level Legal subjects (including Foundations of Law, Criminal Law, Torts, Property and Commercial Law, Corporations Law)

Each lesson is one hour long and will involve individualised activities and assessments. Prior to our first lesson, I will chat with you via email about your goals for our tutoring sessions, as well as your strengths and weaknesses, so that I can make sure your lesson is personalised for you.

I will also be available to assist you during the lesson with any assessments that you are currently working on. I want to help you not only build confidence in your writing, reading and learning abilities, but also to discover the joy of developing skills that will help you not only navigate but deeply enjoy the rest of your life.
