About Sophy
I studied Drama, Theatre, and Performance at Sussex University in Brighton, completing a 4-year course with a year abroad in Stockholm, Sweden. I decided to study drama after being encouraged by my LAMDA teacher after years of performing at a high standard in both LAMDA and Guildhall Speech and Drama exams. During my time at the university, I acted in multiple Plays and short films, devised and put on a short play in Sweden, co-directed a play at the Attenborough Centre of Performing Arts and brought that same play to Brighton Fringe with very well-attending audiences. I also taught Drama and Acting throughout my degree to school children across the Sussex area. This is where I found my love of teaching acting and helping my students build the confidence they never knew they had so that they could excel on stage. Aside from my love of theatre, I am a florist, I love to travel, run, hike, crochet and read.

Teaching acting is all about finding a way to bring a script to life for you, I do this by getting to know you. In order to understand a character's emotions and bring them to life, we need to understand what makes you laugh, cry, angry and excited. We will draw from moments in your life while keeping it playful and lighthearted. I believe acting exercises such as hot seating and character walks are key to developing character beyond a script. We will draw on key theatre practitioners' techniques to explore this and give you the best chance on your distinction in LAMDA.
