About Helena

I recently graduated from Durham University with First Class Honours in English Literature. I am a problem-solver and logical thinker who rises to new challenges with determination and creativity. As well as tutoring extensively, I worked as a classroom assistant at St Vincent De Paul, where I helped 11-year-old students with various subjects including Maths and English. I also translated into Spanish for non-English speaking students. From this I learnt about one-to-one teaching, particularly easy and quick changes that transform a student's understanding of the material. I remember the stress of exams at school and hope to be able to make someone else's journey a little easier! I worked as a teaching assistant and youth leader, which means I am experienced at working with children. I worked hard at school, (all my GCSEs were A* grades, and Pre-U/A2-levels were A*AAA equivalent), and am therefore excited to help other students and tutees fulfil their potential. I finished my A-levels recently (2016) and am therefore familiar with the required exam technique, essay-writing styles and material required to reach the top grade boundaries.
