About Marcus
I am a graduate from Durham University, achieving an upper 2:1 (69.9%) in History (BA), with experience working as a teaching assistant at Waterloo Primary School, currently undertaking a law conversion postgraduate degree in London.
I am looking to take on a small number of students for either A-level or GCSE English Language and Literature, so that I might provide prospective students with the best experience and provide well planned, results-oriented lessons.
I am DBS certified, through working as a teaching assistant, where I dealt with students of all levels, including underperforming students, and aspirational students, as well as SEN children, providing me with a well rounded teaching ethos; to remain patient and goal oriented with each student's learning. As such, lessons are designed to maximise results, not just for exams, but rather providing a more rounded understanding for the English courses.
Lessons are one to one and online, either through Zoom or Microsoft Teams, but please contact to enquire after other methods. Consultations and enquiries are free, and I am happy to take communication and will respond promptly.

In the first lesson, students discuss current attainment, and goals for what each person wishes to get out of lessons, and devise a study plan for generating academic improvement.
Lessons are flexible, and can either follow current work, or challenging areas which can arise throughout the academic year.
I make sure to communicate clearly with parents following every lesson, as to exactly what was covered and the progress that I have noted.
Lessons take place over Zoom for one hour a week, and are appropriate for 15-18 year olds of all ability, with an interest in improving their academics.
I have previously worked as a teaching assistant at Waterloo Primary School, and have a history of working with underperforming students. Through that experience, I have worked on a one to one basis with SEN children with autism and ADHD.
