About Karen
Currently, I tutor primary school children in English and Mathematics (ages 6-10). Although I teach across the primary curriculum, I am a specialist reading teacher and previously managed the English department in a London Preparatory School. In addition to this, I have qualifications in teaching children with specific learning difficulties and have designed and implemented individual learning programmes to enable pupils' specific needs to make progress through learning in a style that suits them. I possess a genuine love for teaching and believe all children make significant progress when they are taught in a way specific to them. Before tutoring begins, you and your child (if appropriate) will have an opportunity to share with me, your goals as well as any challenges and difficulties. I will ask questions which will help me produce your child’s individualised learning plan: a sequence of truly engaging lessons with ambitious but achievable outcomes.

As a tutor, I take great care in pitching my teaching with pin-point precision. The children I tutor make huge gains through incremental challenges scaffolded into my lessons. My lessons are carefully designed to fully engage a child through areas of their interest; they contain purpose as well as regular recapping of previously learnt skills so learning is consolidated and built upon. All the children I tutor thoroughly enjoy their lessons and make marked progress.
