About Serena

My name is Serena Walker, and I am passionate about English Literature and teaching. With a strong academic background that includes a Bachelor's degree in Economics from SOAS, University of London, where I completed a dissertation, and A-level studies in English Literature, I bring a unique blend of analytical skills and a deep love for literature to my tutoring. My experience in finance and sustainable investment has honed my ability to think critically and communicate complex ideas clearly, which I apply to my teaching approach.

About the lesson

I emphasize a student-centered approach, tailoring each lesson to the unique needs of the individual. My methodology integrates close reading, thematic exploration, and literary analysis to build a strong foundation in critical thinking and interpretation. My goal is to make literature accessible and enjoyable, fostering a deeper appreciation for the subject.

Typical Length of a Lesson:

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, providing ample time to cover key topics while allowing for in-depth discussion and engagement. I also offer longer sessions of 90 minutes for more intensive study or exam preparation.

Qualifications and Experience:

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Economics from SOAS, University of London, where I also completed a dissertation, achieving a 2.1. In addition, I have studied A-level English Literature, which has given me a strong foundation in literary analysis and interpretation. My experience includes working as a sales ledger clerk and completing an internship in investment management, which has honed my analytical and communication skills. Though my professional background is diverse, my passion for English literature and teaching has led me to pursue this tutoring opportunity.
