About Dawn

I have taught ELA and related subjects for the past 18 years. I have worked with students grades 6 - 12 and college.

My BA is in English. My BS is in Mass Communication. My minor is in Political Science. I was the first person in the history of Baker University to graduate with two degrees and a minor in four years.

My MS is in secondary education. Part of that education was learning how to help students with special needs exceed.

My doctorate is in Higher Education and Adult Learning. So many of my students, even middle school students, have a lot of life experiences. HEAL focuses on using those experiences and skills and building on them. That theory is the foundation of my classes.

About the lesson

I am a different type of teacher. I never was a straight book and worksheet type of teacher. I like to use real world examples to let you know why the information is important and how you can use it.

A typical lesson would start by you telling me what you know and what you learn. Then, we work together to build on your strengths.

I have 18 years experience teaching grades 6-12 and college. I have taught reading, writing, composition, literature, and much more.

I can help you whether you are struggling with a concept or a class. I am great at helping you prepare for tests. Whatever you need, I'm here for you.
