About Tanner
I am originally from Chattanooga, TN and graduated from Covenant College on Lookout Mountain. I'm currently a special education teacher in Valdez, AK and have taught for 6 years at the elementary level. I enjoy working with kids and watching their eyes light up when learning something new. Some of my favorite people are teachers I had growing up and I would not be the same without them. I hope to be that same inspiration for my students.

A typical lesson with me follows this plan:
Warm-up (5-10min): warming up the brain with reference to the lesson topic (I typically like to play games to do this)
Instruction (15-20min): the gradual release model is what I use, meaning I will instruct the material and model it, then release the student to give it a try on their own
Wrap-up/Assess: (5-10min): wrap-up time is for students who need more assistance with the material and assessing if they understand it will help guide future lessons
