About Julia

Hi! I’m Julia, a certified teacher with four years of experience helping elementary students succeed academically and build confidence. I hold New York teaching certifications in Childhood Education, Early Childhood Education, and Students with Disabilities, and I am also certified in the Orton-Gillingham approach, an evidence-based method for teaching reading that is especially effective for students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties.

Throughout my teaching career, I’ve worked with students from Pre-K through 6th grade with a wide range of learning needs. I’ve taught reading, writing, and math in both general and special education settings and have extensive experience creating individualized lessons that help every child grow.

My goal is to make learning engaging, encouraging, and enjoyable. I believe every child is capable of success when they’re taught in a way that matches how they learn best. I work closely with families, celebrate every milestone, and strive to help students develop both strong academic skills and lasting confidence.

About the lesson

Every child learns differently, and my lessons are designed to build confidence while helping students make meaningful academic progress. I create engaging, personalized lessons based on each student’s strengths, learning style, and goals.

I specialize in working with students in Pre-K through 6th grade in reading, writing, and elementary math. As a certified Special Education teacher with four years of classroom experience and Orton-Gillingham certification, I have extensive experience helping students with dyslexia, learning disabilities, ADHD, and other learning challenges. I also enjoy working with general education students who want extra support or a head start.

For reading instruction, I use the evidence-based Orton-Gillingham approach to strengthen phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Every lesson is structured, interactive, and tailored to the individual child.

A typical lesson may include:
• Targeted instruction based on your child’s current skill level
• Multi-sensory learning activities that keep students engaged
• Reading, writing, or math practice using research-based strategies
• Games and hands-on activities for younger learners
• Positive encouragement that builds confidence and independence
• Ongoing progress monitoring with regular parent updates

Whether your child is struggling, has dyslexia, receives special education services, or simply wants to get ahead, my goal is to make learning enjoyable while helping them develop the skills they need to succeed both in school and beyond.

I offer both online and in-person tutoring and look forward to partnering with your family to help your child reach their full potential.
