About Evelyn
I have been giving lessons on a private basis for approximately 30 years. My first student was a 10-year old girl who arrived in this country from the former Soviet Union without any knowledge of English. I coached her in English until she graduated from high school and assisted her in crafting a very fine final senior paper. Presently, I am working with a woman from Saudia Arabia who is enrolled in an adult diploma program. I began with tutoring her elementary math including the multiplication tables, and at this time she is close to completing her math requirement to receive her high school diploma. More recently, I have assisted her with her English and Social Studies homework requiring complex writing assignments and research.

I am an engaging, focused, and passionate teacher and tutor and very much believe in the ability of each student to have a successful and fulfilling learning experience. I received certification to teach English as a Foreign Language from Jerusalem in 1975 and have had many years teaching and tutoring since then to students of all ages and in many different venues. My lessons are student-centered and start with learning about the student through speaking and writing. I encourage my students to ask questions and believe in the ability of each student to be a confident learner.
