Teaching Method and Techniques:
As a tutor, my teaching approach revolves around adaptability and active learning. I tailor my methods based on the student's learning style—whether they are visual, auditory, or hands-on learners. I use the Socratic Method to encourage critical thinking, ask probing questions to guide students through the material, and foster problem-solving skills. I also emphasize breaking down complex concepts into smaller, more digestible parts, especially in STEM subjects, to make the material less intimidating. By making real-world connections, I aim to show students how the knowledge they're acquiring applies beyond the classroom.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
A typical session usually begins with a review of the previous lesson, followed by a brief assessment to identify any lingering confusion. From there, we move on to the new topic. I introduce the concept using examples, walking the student through the logic and steps involved. After that, I provide exercises that challenge them to apply the material themselves, offering guidance and support as needed. Toward the end of the lesson, we revisit key points, summarize the material, and set objectives for the next session.
For example, if I'm tutoring a student in physics on projectile motion, the session might start with a quick review of the equations of motion before moving on to solving progressively harder problems. I’d focus on getting the student to verbalize their thought process and ask them questions like, "What variables are known?" or "Which formula fits this situation?" This ensures they aren't just following steps but really understanding the underlying principles.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor:
What distinguishes me is my combination of technical expertise and my ability to connect with students on a personal level. Having worked with a wide range of students, from high schoolers to college-level learners, I’ve developed a keen sense of how to meet students where they are in their academic journey. My background in both hands-on tutoring and online platforms gives me the flexibility to teach effectively in any setting.
Additionally, I focus not just on improving academic performance, but also on building the student's confidence in their abilities. I believe in creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. My aim is to make them independent learners, capable of approaching problems with a sense of curiosity and resilience.
Who the Lessons Are For:
My lessons are designed for students in STEM fields—ranging from high school to undergraduate college levels. I specialize in subjects like calculus, physics, engineering, and statistics. These sessions are ideal for students taking high school AP courses, college preparatory classes, or even those pursuing degrees in fields such as engineering or applied sciences. My approach is adaptable, whether it's to help a high schooler grasp fundamental math concepts or to assist a college student struggling with advanced courses
