My approach to teaching prioritizes each student's individual needs over my own pedagogical conventions. Our lessons will be primarily based on a preliminary conversation in which we determine together what the student's preferred learning style is, as well as their goals for learning and achieving. Additionally, I will base my work on their age, prior knowledge of the subject matter, and style of communication/self-expression.
My instruction technique is rather unique in that I encourage each student to develop skills that help them to personally engage with the topic; this includes but is certainly not limited to: creative expression, word games, audiovisual systems' learning, as well as straightforward lecturing and testing.
I fell in love with language at an early age. For as long as I can remember, words have been my refuge, my passion, and my most reliable way to understand the world. I have been writing stories and poems since I was old enough to read, and that fervor for self-expression carried over into my academic career.
I graduated in May 2017 from the New College of Florida with Honors and a Bachelor's of Arts in English and Spanish Language/Literature. In order to do this, I had to write countless analytical and rhetorical essays that further refined my skills of English composition and expression; in addition, I wrote a 105-page undergraduate thesis that analyzed an original work of drama that I researched, transcribed, translated, and created myself.
My mother was an English teacher for 25 years, and I aim to follow in her footsteps as I move forward in attaining an M.A. in Education. As such, I would like to offer my services as your tutor, in order to help you reach new heights in your own life through the English language. Whether you are writing a college admission essay, analyzing Brecht at the graduate level, or simply trying to better your written voice, it would be my honor and pleasure to assist you.
