About Taylor
I enjoy not just being a "tutor" but establishing a conversation with the students as equals and to see what works for each individual student. It's just my natural style. Learning is fluid, and everyone has different needs. I graduated from a four-year university, UNC-W, and have been tutoring for over 15 years, at college campuses, after school tutoring programs in Malibu CA, and various private tutoring. I love the rich connections that are made and the process of getting over the hurdles in subjects that seem initially not engaging, especially English, History and the humanities. These subjects are wonderful because they inform modern subjects/entertainment we do love such as: film, TV, music, games, and media. It is all connected, and establishing a foundation in humanities will enhance the experience of our lives, including relationships with ourselves and others.

My lessons involve goal setting and problem solving. Initially we'll establish what area of study needs the most attention, from there we will set goals and intentions to mitigate the most demanding challenges. We will also have fun in our approach to the work by playing learning games, and asking ourselves what interests us most in the educational process, as well as figuring out why certain subjects don't initially engage or spark our curiosity -- by doing this we will begin to positively reframe our approach to education and challenging subjects.
