About Lara

Hi! I'm Lara.

After previously working as a swim teacher for a couple of years, I decided to change disciplines and work as a tutor. I have been tutoring for a couple of months, alongside my English / History degree at a Russel Group University. My 2 A*'s and an A at A Level have enriched my understanding of how to study for exams and make learning fun. I have now been tutoring for just under a year. I have a DBS check for safeguarding purposes, as well as having been on safeguarding courses in the past.

I love to help students find a love for learning with my fun, individualised approach to lessons. I have experience working with students with SEND requirements and have some school-based experience as well.

One parent has reviewed me on another site stating: 'Lara has already given my 16 year old some valuable GCSE revision with more scheduled. He finds the lessons informative and enjoyable. Lara has connected really well with my son, engaging him in the sessions and providing self guided revision options for him in his free time. My son also has social communication disabilities and finds it very hard to connect with people. I’d highly recommend Lara and wish her luck in her future career.'

About the lesson

I aim to create a fun learning environment to expand my student's knowledge of English beyond the school curriculum. I use fun examples to create a memorable way of learning. I typically do hour-long lessons.

My lessons are aimed at students from Key Stage 3 to A Level. After teaching swimming for a couple of years, during A Levels, I wanted to engage my teaching skills within the world of academics. I achieved 2A*'s and an A at A Level and I use the skills I learned from then, alongside the knowledge my English and History degree has so far equipped me with, to engage my students in their studies.

I like to start off my lessons with goals from the student and use that to guide our journey together. I want to help build an understanding of the English language and literature within these lessons.
