About Safia
I am an English Language and Literature graduate and a newly qualified ESOL teacher. As part of my CELTA training, I have been teaching upper-intermediate learners and pre-intermediate learners for the last 6 months. I have rigorously been trained to prepare lessons with the appropriate material for the level being taught. I always ensured I observed my learners well enough to understand their individual needs, anticipate any problems and prepare solutions for classroom management. I would encourage my learners to practice what they learnt in class by providing them a follow task to implement their knowledge and consolidate it outside the classroom. I have also tutored 14-18 year olds at a tuition centre in Birmingham for 3 months; I taught English language and literature to GCSE and A-level students from which I gained more experience and confidence to teach. I would prepare and plan the topic focus for each lesson the week before and prepare new methods and perspectives to understand English language and literature within the confines of their syllabus. To further enhance their skills and help prepare them for assessments and exams, I would assign them essays to write at home and bring in the following week to mark. I am able to assist university students with their assignments and exam revision as I used to do this too whilst studying my degree as well as GCSE to A level students.

I enjoy interactive based lessons myself as a student and implement tasks that keep my learners engaged with the subject. I prefer discussion based tasks as this is very important for English students because it helps stimulate useful and creative ideas.
