About Lily-Rose

During my time at the University I have been heavily involved in theatre, both performing and directing as well as tutoring and teaching during the summers. I also worked as a Senior Arts Editor on the Cambridge Journal of Law, Politics and Art which was such a fun and enriching experience. In my spare time I love reading and going to the theatre. I also love dancing, yoga and watching or reading about film.

Before I started at Cambridge I worked for an NGO called Think Equal which is a global initiative which calls for a system change in education, to end the discriminatory mindset and the cycle of violence across the world, as well as travelling and teaching. During my A levels I was on a full scholarship for English literature and performance as well as wining the CIFE award for academic achievement in 2019.

As a tutor, it is crucial for me that all my lessons are fun, engaging and interactive. English as a subject often feel daunting but at its core is a form of storytelling and it is my role to help unpack the meaning of these texts with the students, and hopefully pass on some of my passion for literature.

About the lesson

I have actively and successfully tutored IGCSE English Literature and Language, and I am confident that my expertise would be a valuable tutor to your child. In my english language classes, I honed students' creative writing skills, guided them through in-depth poetry analysis, and instructed them in the art of constructing well-structured essays. In our literature sessions, we delved into literary classics such as Macbeth, Of Mice and Men, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, covering a diverse range of topics and literary forms. Remarkably, all three of my students achieved significant grade improvements, with each of them advancing by at least two grade boundaries by the time of their exams.

Yet, my most rewarding accomplishment transcends grades. One of the most poignant moments of my tutoring career was when a parent contacted me to share that their child had commented that my classes were the first time they truly grasped the English. Witnessing such a profound breakthrough in language comprehension and communication skills underscores my passion for teaching and its real impact on students.

Furthermore, I bring experience from my tenure at the British English Academy, where I specialized in instructing English language and Literature to children aged two to sixteen. Here, my focus extended beyond mere academics. I dedicated myself to nurturing students' confidence in using the English language, instilling proper grammar and pronunciation, and fostering their ability to express themselves fluently in writing. My approach emphasizes vocabulary expansion and fluidity in writing, skills that directly contribute to academic improvement and enhanced grades.

With my comprehensive background in English tutoring and my dedication to empowering students not only academically but also in their language skills and confidence, I am eager to contribute my expertise to your educational institution and help your students achieve their full potential.
