About Tabatha

Hello! I'm Tabatha, and I hold a First-Class BA in English Literature and an MA in Modern Literature and Culture from King's College London, where I specialised in the study of literature, critical theory and cultural analysis.

During my undergraduate degree, I was awarded the Dissertation of the Year Prize for achieving the highest-marked dissertation in my cohort. My academic studies have allowed me to explore a wide range of texts, periods and critical approaches, and I remain passionate about reading, writing and learning about literature today.

I decided to start tutoring because I know how rewarding it can be when a text suddenly clicks or when a student gains confidence in their own ideas. English can sometimes feel intimidating, particularly when it comes to essay writing or analysing complex texts, but I believe that with the right support, every student can develop their skills and enjoy the subject more deeply.

Whether you're preparing for GCSEs, A Levels or studying English Literature at university, my goal is to create a friendly and encouraging environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas and developing confidence in your abilities.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centred around building confidence, developing independent thinking, and making literature feel more accessible and enjoyable.

Rather than relying on memorisation, I focus on developing strong analytical skills, helping students construct clear arguments and communicate their ideas effectively. My aim is always to make complex ideas feel approachable and enjoyable!

Lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs and goals. This might include close reading, essay planning, exam preparation, coursework support, or developing academic writing skills. I believe the best learning happens through discussion, curiosity, and asking questions, so sessions are collaborative, supportive and designed to build confidence over time.

I hold both a BA and MA in English Literature and offer tuition for GCSE, A Level and undergraduate students. Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, although longer sessions can be arranged for university students who would like more in-depth support with essays, dissertations or independent study.
