About Emily
I'm Emily, a first-year English student at Cambridge University, who spends half her time in Cambridge and the other half in Sheffield. Being only one of a few students to go to Oxbridge in my year group, I am very passionate about helping every student unlock their full potential, and having done a lot of outreach for my school and now my university, I want to help even more! With the pandemic, my education was deeply impacted, so I can sympathise with students who feel they are out of their depth or are struggling due to difficult circumstances, and I am here to lend a helping hand.

Lessons will be approximately 1hr long for both GCSE and A-Level, and the lesson focus will be tailored to the specific texts that are on your course, as I am super flexible and happy to suit students' needs.
Alternatively for post-16 lessons, I can run sessions on comparative literature, using "unseen" passages from short poems and sections of prose, and I am also happy to help with the application process for Oxbridge such as the entrance exam. I have had experience tutoring on the platform "Zero Gravity" where I helped with A-Level texts, and I have also proofread a number of personal statements for prospective university applicants.
Whilst I will typically tutor at GCSE and A-Level, I don't mind tutoring KS3 students (Years 7-9 in England)!

Emily is an amazing tutor. Beyond her intimate understanding of the subject and the best ways to learn it, she engages with her students to provide well-tailored and genuinely helpful lessons.
During the second year of my A-Levels Emily helped me for two hours each week. My grade went from a B to an A*. While the academic aspect was challenging, Emily made it an engaging experience; she is warm and friendly, passionate about History, and has a never-ending amount of knowledge in the subject. All of this together meant that I really looked forward to her teaching and am very satisfied with the result!
I'm so grateful to Emily and recommend her to anyone who needs some help in History!View more recommendations
