My teaching method is differentiated to meet the needs of each individual learner. I have experience working with gifted students, students with disabilities, and everyone in between. The majority of my students have been 6th-12th graders, though I have experience tutoring younger learners as well. My goal is to set goals with the student (and applicable family members), and to find ways to meet those goals through challenging, yet accessible and engaging, skill building practice and experiences.
I have been a classroom teacher for over nine years, working in private and public schools. During that time, I worked as an English teacher, social studies teacher, and then special education/inclusion teacher. Additionally, I have tutored students 1:1 in reading, writing, and test prep. I hold a B.A. in English, Creative Writing, and History for Loyola University Chicago and a M.A. in Teaching and Learning from Roosevelt University. I also attended North Central College for my secondary teaching certification.
