About Keelyn

Hi! I'm Keelyn - a literature and video game nerd based in Cape Town. I'm interested in helping YOU master what it is you're looking to do with English - sounding professional, finishing that essay you have due, finally understanding that grammar concept you don't quite get, or proofreading that article you wrote. No problem. I’ll work with you step by step, tailoring each lesson to your specific goals or projects. Lessons are structured but flexible, interactive, and supportive, helping beginners to advanced learners feel confident, capable, and ready to succeed. How am I qualified to best help you? I'm pursuing my Master's Degree in English at Stellenbosch University, I'm a qualified TEFL teacher, and I completed my Honors Degree in English in 2021 with distinction. I can't wait to meet you and to help you realize your full potential.

About the lesson

As an MA English student and TEFL-certified tutor, my approach is a blend of structured methodology and personalised support.

I follow a classic TEFL lesson sequence - warm-up, presentation, practice, and plenary/feedback - to give each session a clear flow and learning objective.

Within that structure, I adapt every lesson to what the student actually wants to work on: writing an essay together, co-editing a draft, strengthening grammar, improving academic style, or building confidence in reading or speaking.

I am proficient in English and able to teach entirely in English, or explain concepts simply if a student needs additional clarity.

Students can expect lessons that are collaborative, structured, and goal-driven: we identify the aim for the day, work through the material together, and end with feedback and a short reflection on progress.

My lessons are ideal for:
• High-school learners needing support with English, writing, and comprehension
• University students wanting help with essays, academic writing, or close reading
• Adult learners aiming to improve general English or written communication (including CV building)
• ESL students at beginner to advanced levels

Overall, I offer a balance of professional TEFL methodology and flexible, student-centred guidance to help you meet your specific goals.
