I follow the Student-Centered approach to learning because every student is unique is skill and knowledge. I get to know each student to learn what skills they already possess. Teachers and students play an equally active role in the learning process.
My primary role is to coach and facilitate learning and to meet the objectives according to the material. I measure student learning through both formal and informal assessments. These may include group projects, off-line projects, student portfolios, and class participation.
I use traditional teaching methods including class participation, demonstration, recitation, memorization, or combinations of these. I use non-traditional methods of delivery such as poetry, songs, video, art, or any other medium we negotiate beforehand.
I am competent to teach ESL as I grew up in a bilingual home and briefly lived in Europe. My family hosted exchange students from six different countries.
I worked as an International Trainer for a pharmaceutical company in London and Barcelona. Before that, I studied opera and performed in English, German, French, Italian, Latin, Russian, and Japanese.
I have also tutored business, technical, and medical English to clinicians and scientists.
